In Pokemon Vortex, various Pokemon evolve by many methods. Evolutions aren't forced and players can choose to evolve or not evolve their Pokemon. Players can evolve their Pokemon by clicking on the + icon on their Pokemon's mini card.
Notes: Mega Evolution and Gigantamax count as permanent evolutions in Pokemon Vortex. It is not possible to revert such evolutions.

Evolution Methods

Evolution methods of Pokemon are listed down below, each Pokemon evolves in its unique way.

Levels

Most Pokemon require to be higher than a specified level in order to be able to evolve. These levels could range from Level 7 for a Caterpie or range as high as Level 64 for a Zweilous. Each Pokemon which evolves by level must be at that level or higher in order to be able to evolve.

Items

Certain Pokemon will only evolve when the player has an item which is required to evolve that Pokemon. The evolution stones are examples of this, an Eevee can only evolve if the player has an evolution stone for it.

Multi-Item

Certain Pokemon require multiple items in order to evolve. For example, Meltan requires 50 or 400 Meltan Candies in order to evolve for normal or special variants, respectively.

Split

There are many Pokemon which can evolve into two or more other Pokemon. The method of evolving for such Pokemon differs based on the Pokemon to be evolved into. For example, Charcadet can evolve into either Armarouge or Ceruledge if Auspicious Armor or Malicious Armor was used, respectively.

Gender

Certain Pokemon will only evolve if they are the specifed genfer required for evolution.
For example, Combee will only evolve into Vespiquen if the Combee is female.

Time

Certain Pokemon will only evolve during certain time of the day.
For Example, Rockruff can evolve into Midday, Midnight or Dusk depending on the time of the day

Happiness

Certain Pokemon need to have specified amount of Happiness hearts in order to evolve. Please refer to the Happiness page for more details about the happiness mechanic.

Fusion

Certain Pokemon need to be fused with one another Pokemon in order to evolve into a new form of the Pokemon. Both the Pokemon which are to be fused must be of the same variant in order to be compatible of fusion. For example, Necrozma can be fused with either Solgaleo or Lunala to evolve Necrozma into its Dusk Mane and Dawn Wings forms, respectively.
It is important to know that the attributes/data such as Experience, Original Trainer tag, Happiness, ID and Obtained: Date are all taken from the Host Pokemon. In Necrozma's case, Necrozma is the host and all attributes/data of Solgaleo/Lunala will be lost and Necrozma's attributes/data will be considered.

Sidequests

In order to evolve Pokemon from their normal form into their regional variants, players need to be in that region in the sidequests.
It is important to note that this is only required to evolve Pokemon from normal to regional form of the Pokemon. For example, Diglett (Alolan) can evolve into Dugtrio (Alolan) without being in the Alolan region of the sidequests but to evolve Exeggcute into Exeggutor (Alolan) players must be in the Alolan region of the sidequests.

Attack

Certain Pokemon must know a specified attack in order to be able to evolve. These Pokemon will not be able to evolve unless they have this specified attack in their current moveset. For example, Rayquaza will only evolve into Rayquaza (Mega) if it knows Dragon Ascent.

Account

Certain Pokémon and their forms are permanently linked to a player's account via a hidden attribute that is randomly assigned when the account is created.

Currently, only Spewpa to Vivillon evolutions are what utilise this evolution method. This means when a player tries to evolve a Spewpa, they will only ever be able to evolve it into one form of Vivillon that cannot be known which one until they try to evolve a Spewpa with the exception of Vivillon (Vortexball) which overrides the account-based evolution if the Spewpa is held in a Vortex Ball.

Other forms of Vivillon are available to players via trade or auctions.

Note: Vivillon (Fancy) and Vivillon (Pokeball) are not part of the account creation assignment and are special event Pokémon.
