Pokémon Vortex's official Discord server has an hourly quiz. Players can participate to collect 
quiz coins, which are used to buy certain exclusive items from the quiz shop.
Quiz shop
Quizzers can buy various items and Pokémon from the quiz shop. Using the command !shop in the #quiz channel in Discord, or in a DM with VortexBot, allows players to view the shop options.

Quiz commands
- The !coins command is used to check the player's current coin count.
- The !next command is used to get the time to the next quiz.
- The !pingme command gives the player the "
Quizzer" role, which is pinged by the bot right before a new quiz starts. To remove the role, use the !pingme command again.
Quiz structure
The Discord quiz consists of eight types of questions:
- "What is the name of this gym badge?"
- "What level is required for this evolution?"
- "Who's that Pokémon?"
- "What item is needed for this evolution?"
- "Name a Pokémon which matches both of these types?"
- "Unscramble these letters to make the name of a Pokémon."
- "Unscramble these letters to make the name of an attack."
- "Which Pokémon created this footprint?"
Each quiz has ten rounds, where the first eight questions are from each of the types, and the ninth and tenth question are the same type as the first and second questions, respectively.
Example: If the 1st question is "Who's that Pokémon?" and 2nd question is "What is the name of this gym badge?" then the 9th and 10th questions will be "Who's that Pokémon?" and "What is the name of this gym badge?", respectively.
FAQ
For new players getting started with the Vortex-Quiz it might seem a little difficult at the start, this section is a rough guide about the quiz itself, how to approach certain questions, certain things one may not understand when starting off, etc.
- When does the quiz start?
- Players can use the !next command to see when the next quiz starts, the quiz is hourly, starting at XX:00 UTC.
- Why is the quiz so fast?
- When a question is displayed, the chat is locked for a few seconds so that everyone can see the question, then the chat is unlocked and people can start to type answers. When a player enters the correct answer, the chat remains open for 2-3 seconds before closing. Players must be correct and quick in order for their answer to reach VortexBot.
- Why did I get a message saying, "Your message could not be delivered." even though I typed my answer quick enough?
- This error occurs when the quizzer sends their message in time but the message reaches Discord too late and the channel is already locked by then and thus the error message.
- Does spelling matter?
- Yes, spelling matters. For example, if the answer to a question is "Popplio", typing "poplio" will be marked wrong, and you will not receive any coins.
- However, it is important to note that answers are not case sensitive, and that spaces and special characters are ignored. For example, if the answer is "Hidden Power (Ghost)", VortexBot will accept "hidden power (ghost)", "hiddenpowerghost", "hidden/power/ghost", and other related combinations.
- How many footprints are there to learn?
- The quiz contains questions about footprints of Pokémon up to Generation V, with the exception of:
- Pokémon that levitate or fly, which do not leave footprints
- Pokémon that have small dots as footprints, since they are indistinguishable
- Players can refer to Bulbapedia's list of Pokémon by footprint for a complete list of all footprints.
