Ancient Pokemon were a variant of Pokemon in Pokemon Vortex until Vortex representatives and other staff decided to remove this variant and replace it with the Metallic variant. These Pokemon were displayed on site up through version 2 of Pokemon Vortex and were first added on December 16, 2009. They were made by Masqeurain3, a former staff member in Pokémon Vortex. They are a brownish color to represent the theme of "ancient", being made to look very old. They also have a 25% defense bonus in battles, the same as their replacement, Metallic Pokemon. Ancient Pokemon cannot be used on Pokemon Vortex anymore.
