Ancient Pokemon were a variant of Pokemon in Pokemon Vortex until Administrators decided to remove this variant and replace it with the Metallic variant. These Pokemon were displayed on site up through version 2 of Pokemon Vortex and were first added on December 16, 2009. They were made by Masqeurain3, a former forum moderator on Pokémon Vortex. They are a brownish color to represent the theme of "ancient", being made to look very old. They also have a 25% defense bonus in battles, the same as their replacement, Metallic Pokemon.
Ancient Pokemon are not special variant in Pokémon Vortex anymore. These Pokemon had 25% more defence compared to other variants. Metallic Pokemon were as rare as every other Pokemon variant that isn't Normal Variant. These Pokémon reached 400 HP at level 100.
Ancient Pokemon cannot be used on Pokemon Vortex anymore.

All of these Pokemon were made by staff of Pokémon Vortex. These Pokémon could be caught on all maps. Every Legendary Pokemon could be caught at any level between 50 and 75 in their Ancient Variant.

They are currently unavailable, and development shows no interest of ever bringing them back.
In version 3, Ancient Variant was replaced with Metallic Variant.
