PokéBay

From Pokémon Vortex Wiki

PokéBay is Pokémon Vortex's auction house. It is here where players can buy and sell game-goods such as Pokémon or items, avatars and promo codes from/to other players.

Introduced in v4 of Pokémon Vortex, PokéBay auctions instantly became one of the most important aspects of the game for player interaction as it created a real economy and use for Pokédollars that previously didn't exist.

PokéBay's default listings view (v6)

Each auction a player creates has a minimum start price which varies based on the auction type (Item auctions can start at 250 - all other auction types start at 25,000) and a maximum start price of 100,000,000 so the seller must pick a start price between these two values although there is no cap on how high the auction can eventually sell for once it has a bid. Additionally, each auction must have a duration from a pre-set list of durations varying between 1 and 7 days.

A PokéBay auction can be started within the PokéBay system itself or there are quick-links to create one from the various in-game storage systems of each auction type.

Once an auction has been listed, it may be delisted by the seller as long as no bids have been placed on it. Once the auction has bids, it is guaranteed to sell and will run the duration set by the seller upon auction listing.

Note: Promo Code auctions can only be created once a promo code has been "packaged" within the player's inventory. This changes the code and makes it invisible so it cannot be redeemed while listed for sale. It is delivered to the buyer or returned to the seller if unsold in this same state and must be unpackaged again to be claimed.

Exclusive Auctions

Exclusive auctions are auctions on rotation (contents picked at random) created by the system that contain some of the more desirable items within the game. There are always five exclusive auctions running at a time. They always start at their minimum possible value and run for varying durations based on the "exclusivity" of the auction.

These auctions are the only way Shiny Avatars and Furfrou forms are put out into the game's economy for further trading/selling/gifting.

Exclusive auctions are always listed by an unviewable profile called "Exclusive Auction" and are highlighted in red while also being prioritised to the top of the default view of auction listings.

Events Involving PokéBay

Seasonal Events

Each year around Valentine's Day and Christmas, automated auctions are started by the system (listed by the account "PokeBay") for Pokémon and items that fit the specified holiday theme.

On Valentine's these auctions consist of Love Sweets (used to evolve Milcery into Alcremie (Love)) and promo codes for Furfrou (Heart).

Christmas auctions consist of Star Sweets (used to evolve Milcery into Alcremie (Star) and promo codes for Furfrou (Star).

The item auctions containing sweets are listed at random intervals and can contain 1 or 2 of the current sweet being listed. The promo code auctions are listed each hour (XX:00 UTC) and are one of each variant of the current Furfrou form being listed.

Note: Furfrou form promo codes bought in these seasonal auctions expire if not claimed within one month of the auction.
